Easement approval paves way for cell tower

The cell tower project slated for Town Farm Road took another step forward during the July 25 Board of Selectmen meeting after members unanimously approved an easement request from Wireless Edge.
According to Town Administrator Jim Smith, National Grid asked made the initial request for the easement at the beginning of Town Farm Road for utility purposes.
“It’s important this be approved for the project to move forward,” Smith said. “The easements are for an electric underground line that will feed the cell tower. I would have brought it before you earlier, but I just became aware of it.”
The town previously purchased 6.08 acres of land that is part of Whittier Farms for $24,000.
