Why would I need an earth removal permit?
In order to protect the Town of Sutton’s natural resources and minimize the impact of earth removal activities on its citizens, the Town adopted a bylaw which requires a permit for specific activities. Except as stated in bylaw section 5.8, no earth shall be removed from any lot in the Town of Sutton unless a permit is obtained by the owner of such lot.
NOTE: Earth Removal Permits are prohibited in Residential Zones.
Earth is considered all forms of soil including without limitation, sod, loam, sand, gravel, clay, peat, hardpan, rock quarried stone, or mineral products.
