Please plan to attend the Middle School / High School Building Project Community Forum on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 7 pm in the Middle School Auditorium.  This will be an opportunity to hear an update on:

  • the proposed building design, cost estimates, and phasing or staging of the project
  • MSBA timeline and other project information
  • financial impact
On Wednesday, January 27, 2010 the Massachusetts State Building Authority (MSBA) approved Sutton's design option for the Middle School / High School Building Project.  The final proposed plan submitted to the Massachusetts School Building Authority is above.  Please click on the links above (Option DC aerial full size and floor plans) to access a larger version of the diagrams.

The project now moves to MSBA's next phase - scheatic design, project scope and funding.  With the state's final approval in late Mrch, the project will be presented to the Sutton voters at the May 10, 2010 Town Meeting.

The original School Building Needs Committee was established (Article 5) at the Town Meeting in May 2003 to evaluate the building needs of the Sutton Public School District. More recently, the Committee was reorganized and increased in size to 13 members who have diligently worked on the following functions:

  • providing information to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA);
  • hiring the (Owner’s Project Manager) OPM and architect;
  • holding regular meetings with the MSBA and OPM throughout the process;
  • keeping the community informed of the project status;
  • and acting as an intermediary between the MSBA, the hired professionals and the Owner (the town).
The Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) is dedicated to assisting municipalities with the design, construction, renovation and repair of the Commonwealth's public schools.  Through its grant program, the MSBA works with local communities to identify school facility needs, develop fiscally responsible and educationally appropriate solutions, and create safe, sound, and sustainable learning environments.

The School Building Committee will continue to work with the Community of Sutton and the MSBA to move this project forward in the most time and cost effective way possible. We invite your involvement at our meetings.
