Two weeks after approving the request of a resident to remove acreage from his Eight Lots Road plot, the Board of Selectmen green-lighted two other requests.
During two public hearings at the Dec. 5 Board of Selectmen meeting, members voted 4-0 to not exercise the town’s option for a 61A removal of 7.2 acres of 169 and 187 Eight Lots Road.
The land owned by William K. P. Cronin is filed under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 61A Section 14.
“The committees and department heads have no issues removing this from 61A,” Town Administrator Jim Smith said.
According to the law, Section 14 land taxed under this chapter shall not be sold for, or converted to, residential, industrial or commercial use while so taxed or within one year after that time unless the city or town in which the land is located has been notified of the intent to sell for, or to convert to, that other use.
Cronin intends to sell the land to Kenneth Jackman, Jr., of Whitinsville for $160,000. Jackman is slated to build a single house lot on the land.
The second hearing was the removal of an additional 2.81 acres of 169 Eight Lots Road, which the Board also approved by a 4-0 vote.
Cronin plans to sell that parcel for $149,000 to John J. Remillard and Maria L. Rockwell of North Grafton for the purpose of creating a single house lot.
Mel Chacharone, the legal representative for Cronin, said on Nov. 21 the plan is to subdivide the land into five livable lots.
“If there’s no interest from the town, then it’s the business of the property owner,” Selectman Chair Jesse Limanek said.
