Sutton is “Greener” as Sutton Education Foundation Teams Up with KIDUCATION

Sutton, MA. December 9, 2008 – Sutton, an Energy Star Community, is “a little bit greener” says Jim Smith, the Sutton Town Manager.  We have placed a KIDUCATION™ container at the Sutton Transfer Station and selected Sutton Education Foundation Trust (SEFT) to be a recipient of the proceeds. ~This is a unique opportunity for our community.  “It fits perfectly with Suttons’ socially responsible agenda.”

Our transfer station in Sutton is a valuable asset to our community.  It provides an environmentally friendly, low cost alternative to curb side pick up.  In addition, the transfer station is a place to recycle most items, as well as, used books, returnable cans and toys. The KIDUCATION collection boxes have just given the residents’ of Sutton another reason to go to the transfer station.  It has filled the void by providing a place to put used clothes and shoes.  This eliminates the temptation to put these usable items in our landfills.

The Community Crusade for Children collects a variety of items from the KIDUCATION collection boxes.   These “In Kind Donations” are distributed to local and global communities in need, free of charge.  To date the Community Crusade for Children has donated over $2 million worth of clothing and $3 million in money back to communities that sponsored the collection boxes, since 2002

Combining the KIDUCATION boxes with SEFT was a perfect fit,” says Jim Smith.  “ I have heard of all the wonderful things that SEFT has done for our schools and when I thought of non-profit organizations in Sutton, SEFT was the first to come to mind”

SEFT is an all volunteer organization committed to fostering excellence in education. This is accomplished by providing financial resources for exciting educational grant projects that benefit children at the Sutton Schools. SEFT’s fundraising projects include: Food for Thought, Shop for Sutton and the yearly SEFT Dinner Dance and Auction.

This is fabulous opportunity for Sutton to “go green” with socially responsible thinking while benefiting others and our children of Sutton.  Everyone will benefit from the KIDUCATION collection boxes. “It is one stop recycling and disposal at it best” says Jim Smith. “ Everyone wins.”
