Selectmen signed the fall town meeting warrant Tuesday night, which will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20 at the Simonian Center.
There are 11 articles on the warrant, which include amending a budget article from the May town meeting now that Sutton has more solid numbers in regards to new growth estimate (raising from $125,000 to $250,000) and state aid. The extra money would be used to help pay for several items, including ambulance housing in Millbury and paying more this year in the effort to lessen next year’s burden on the cost of installing solar panels on the Simonian Center.
Another article would permit the town to negotiate a PILOT (Payment In Lieu Of Taxes) agreement for a proposed solar farm with a 2.5 megawatt system to be built at Lasell and Oakhurst roads. Half of the farm would be in Sutton while the other half would be in Northbridge. A citizen’s petition on the warrant is seeking to allow commercial kennels by special permit of the Planning Board in the Office Light Industrial District.
The Finance Committee is expected to hold its public meeting in the coming week to make their recommendations.
