Mission Statement
The Sutton Recreation Commission seeks to promote and provide town residents with recreational programs and opportunities in a safe and healthy environment. It is our goal to meet the needs of participants and enhance their quality of life.
Historically, the Sutton Recreation Commission has been responsible for running the beach at Marion’s Camp (located at the end of Tuttle Road) on Lake Singletary. Each year the beach is staffed with lifeguards from the hours of noon until 6pm. The beach is open from the end of the school year through Labor Day, weather permitting. From the hours of 9:00 am until noon the Recreation Commission provides Red Cross swim lessons (levels 1-4) primarily to town residents.
In the past, the Recreation Commission has run a six week long summer camp at the High School featuring sports and other activities. It is the hope of the Commission that they will be able to provide a similar activity based program in the summer of 2010.
The Recreation Commission is looking to expand upon its utilization of Marion’s Camp in conjunction with the proposed upgrades to the facility. It is the hope that this area would be a vital recreational venue for residents.
The Recreation Commission is in the process of scheduling activity based field trips. Suggestions for recreation ideas are appreciation.
Thank you,
The Recreation Commission
