COMMUNITY PROFILE:  The Town of Sutton is a rural community located in the heart of the Blackstone Valley, minutes from Worcester and the Mass Pike and just 15 minutes from the Rhode Island border.  Our excellent schools, rural character, and safe surroundings make Sutton the ideal environment to live and to raise a family.

LOCATION:  The Town of Sutton is located in central Massachusetts (Worcester County) in an area known as the Blackstone Valley.  The Town is located along Route 146 and is 8 miles south of Worcester, 30 miles north of Providence and 46 miles southwest of Boston. The Town is bordered by the Towns of Millbury, Grafton, Northbridge, Uxbridge, Douglas and Oxford.  The town consists of five villages: Sutton Center, Manchaug, Wilkinsonville, West Sutton, and South Sutton.

POPULATION & INCOME:  According to the 2010 U.S. census, Sutton had a population of 8,875. The local census shows a population of 9,355 for 2012. The median household income in 2011 inflation adjusted dollars according to the 2010 U.S. census is $109,130.  

LOCAL ECONOMY:  Manufacturing and Retail Trade are the leading industries in Sutton and the Blackstone Valley. Predominately a manufacturing town, Sutton is host to such nationally and regionally known firms as Atlas Box, Carquest, Polyvinyl, Aggregate Industries and others.

TRANSPORTATION:  The Town of Sutton boasts a strong transportation network with Route 146, convenient access to I-290 and the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90).

RECREATION:  The Town of Sutton offers a wide array of recreational opportunities in a rural setting. Sutton is home to Purgatory Chasm State Park, Lake Singletary and Lake Manchaug as well as a town owned recreational area and beach known as Marion’s Camp.  In addition, Sutton is home to two renown golf courses, Pleasant Valley Country Club and Blackstone National Golf course.
