Swim Lessons - Levels

Red Cross Swim Lessons -
REGISTRATION OPENS ON MONDAY, APRIL 27th

There are two swim lesson sessions for the Summer of 2026.  Session I is July 6 - July 17 and Session II is July 20 - 31. 

There are 5 levels of group swim lessons.  Lessons are 30 minutes and each session runs for two weeks Monday – Thursday.  In severe weather, classes will be canceled and make-up classes will be held on Friday.  You will be contacted in case of a cancellation or you can call the Town Clerk’s office at 508-865-8725.   Please note we do not offer refunds.  A beach pass is not required to participate in the swim program.  However, if you choose to use the beach after lessons, you will be required to purchase one.  Click here to purchase your beach pass.  

Please select which level you feel your child belongs in.  Evaluations are held on the first day of lessons and placement may be changed at the discretion of the instructor.  Click here to register.


Preschool (ages 3-5) (1 instructor/5 children)                                        10:30-11:00 am

Students will learn the basics in this fun-filled class as we introduce water safety while entering and exiting the water, bubble blowing, and supported kicking and floating with arm movements. 

Level 1 – Introduction to Water Skills (1 instructor/5 children)            10:00-10:30 am

This class helps participants build on skills learned in the Preschool class.  Lessons will include confidently entering and exiting the water, blowing bubbles, submerging the face, opening the eyes underwater, and independent kicking and floating.  

Level 2 – Fundamental Aquatic Skills                                                     9:30-10:00 am

This class will be focusing on fundamental level skills.  Children will work on front and back floats, kicking and the introduction of the front crawl.  The objective of the class is gain confidence in the water.  Students must be able to put their face in the water comfortably for a three second count.

Level 3/4 – Stroke Readiness & Development                                       9:00-9:30am

The level 3 class will introduce the elementary backstroke as well as treading water.  Students will learn to coordinate and improve the front crawl and backstroke.  Some shallow diving will be introduced.  Students at level 4 will work on improving their strokes learned in level 3 and increasing their endurance as well as the sidestroke and rhythmic breathing.
