You can’t call him town administrator anymore.

During the Board of Selectmen’s meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 7, Town Administrator Jim Smith said the State Legislature approved a change to the town charter, changing it to a town manager form of government.

Gov. Charlie Baker signed it into law on July 20.

“The two biggest aspects of the new charter was to change the title from town administrator to town manager and to create associate positions on all boards and committees,” Smith said.

Smith thanked many people in helping with the transition, including Town Clerk Laura Caruso, who oversaw the process since it started in 2012, the Charter and Bylaw Committee, chaired by David Surprenant, and State Sen. Ryan Fattman and State Rep. Joe McKenna.
